Time heals
Jun. 29th, 2007 10:58 amOk, so I'm feeling a little better about the Yahoo/California trip. Still disappointed, but what can you do? They still haven't figured out a way to fight the weather. Who knows? Maybe they will invite us all again. It could happen.
So it is Friday and it's date night again. It's my turn to plan it and I think we'll go see Ratatouille. It looks like a lot of fun and we've both been eager to see it. I need to find a place for dinner, but that shouldn't be too hard.
What was hard was seeing my pay check go into my account and then realizing almost all of it will be gone by tomorrow. By the time I pay the rent, the electric bill, the gas bill, a car insurance payment, my life insurance bill and a couple of others and do the grocery shopping I will be on the low end again. I make a good salary. I earn over 6 figures - not a lot over 6 figures but still. You'd think that would be enough. More than enough. I'm not frivilous. I don't blow money on alcohol, drugs or wild shopping sprees. My vices don't really involve money. I rarely buy clothes for myself and when I do I try to get everything on eBay or at thrift stores. I haven't shopped in Macy's in I can't remember how long, for myself at least.
Ah, but there is so much that is good in my life I can't be down for too long. Sarah's 4th quarter report card came yesterday and damn if that girl didn't do AMAZING. 93 overall average, and she got 100 on her Spanish Regents exam! I am so proud of her I could bust. I'd love to be able to call her father and share how amazing our daughter is but he's still idiotboy and he always will be. She worked her first day at camp yesterday and it seems to be going well. She's a responsible kid. And I want to frame that report card.
