Here is where I'll be staying in California tonight.  


I can't sleep anymore - I have a pathological fear of over-sleeping on important mornings so I end up waking up at ungodly hours and being exhausted.  Fortunately, I have a 6 hour flight to snooze on and time at the hotel before our dinner tonight to rest.  


Yahoo! is hosting a dinner for the group tonight at this place.  Looks like a nice restaurant.  I hope the dress code isn't strict because I'm not bringing anything fancy with me.  I do think this is rather cool though - I got our itinerary yesterday from the Yahoo team leader and we will get a chance to have a full tour of Yahoo's facility and we even get to visit the Yahoo store!  I am coming home with a tee shirt if it kills me!  I know I'm a geek about this stuff.  I can live with that.  We're even going to see the YNOC - Yahoo Network Operations Center - which has the technogeek in me drooling in anticipation.  

Who knew that when I started running the Freecycle(TM) group 2.5 years ago that it would lead to a free trip to California?  Very cool.


I have to recheck my suitcase and make sure that I packed enough clothing.  I have a bad habit of underpacking - I get to where I'm going and realize that I only have enough clothes for 2 days when I needed 3.   That's what comes of packing while exhausted.  I'm going to check my bag with the airline, I think.  That way I don't have to worry about what I'm taking with me.  I didn't have time to go and get little mini versions of all my stuff to pack.

I'm going to miss David and the kids like crazy but I'll probably be too busy to mope.  And I'll be home by Saturday dinner time so it won't be long.

My flight has been cancelled!!!  I'm on endless hold with the Yahoo travel agency.  This is SO not how I wanted the day to be!

No trip to California.  No visit to Yahoo.  There isn't a single damn seat on any flight from any NY area airport to CA at all today.  Nothing.  Not a damn thing.
