This morning, David and I were chatting with our "train group" - the folks we stand with on the platform everyday - and we started joking about next May when Sarah and Aaron will both be graduating college.  I said something about it being just my luck that both kids would be graduating on the same day - ha ha. 

Guess what.

They are.  I checked.

O brother.

One graduating in Vermont and the other on Long Island and both on the same day: May 19, 2013.

Anyone have a Tardis they can loan me?  A time winder?  A way back machine?

I am so screwed.

What you need is something I saw in the old Wild Wild West (Friday nights!) where you move REALLY fast. That way you could run from one graduation to the other without either of them knowing you'd left.

That is a dilemma! My two graduated at the same time, but fortunately the ceremonies were a week apart, and in the same general area.

Oh, no. That has to be a pretty strong contender for mother's worst nightmare. :( :( Unless you fancy drawing straws for it, I don't have any clever suggestions, I'm afraid.

my sister and i graduated on the same day -- her med school graduation in Ontario and my law school graduation in Nova Scotia. I know there's no perfect answer -- for what its worth, what my parents did was (a) both took her out the night before her graduation and then dad flew to NS while mom stayed for graduation and then (b) dad was at my graduation, with mom joining us the next day for a family celebration dinner thingie.....

That sounds like a really good solution!

I also suggest taking advantage of technology to watch the graduation you're not at in person on your phone or laptop or whatever. If the schools aren't providing online video, Skype or Facetime would do it.
