New hair toy and new picture
Dec. 18th, 2009 10:37 amSo I bought myself a new hair toy recently. It's called the InStyler and it is one of those "OMG this will change your life" products, at least if you are like me and have never been happy with the texture of your hair. My hair is annoying. It is too curly/full of body for most of the styles I'd like and it is not curly/full of body enough for other styles I like. It also has a tendency to get REALLY frizzy at the slightest hint of humidity. It always looks really great after I get it done at a salon (as in the picture in my icon to the left) but then I can never recreate that look at home. At least, not until now.
Andrea, one of the women in my office, has one of these and she clued me and Reneé (another woman I work with) onto the InStyler. Andrea was kind enough to bring her's in and she, Reneé and I sequestered ourselves in my office one day and had a hair/hen party for a while. We tested the thing out and we both loved it. Now Reneé and Andrea are both African American and I am, well, not. So our hair is really different but the InStyler worked great on mine as well as Reneé's. Reneé deliberately came in without having done much to her hair that morning so it was really bushy, as she called it. A few strokes of the InStyler and *poof* - gorgeous locks of hair that didn't have the "I just ironed my hair" look. Then they used it on my hair and I just loved the results. Here's how I looked:
Trust me when I say my hair did NOT look like that a few minutes earlier.
So I ordered a pair - you get 2 for the price of one on a special deal running right now - and they came a few days ago. I love this thing. For once I finally have hair that looks the way I've always wanted my hair to look: smooth and stylish and manageable, not going in a hundred directions at once and looking messy.
I also really love the fact that I have green eyes. I know this is going to sound weird but I didn't realize I had green eyes until I was about 17. I went to get my driver's permit application and when I was filling out the physical description I put "brown" for eye color. The woman at the DMV looked at me and she laughed and said "Honey, don't you know you have green eyes?" I looked in a mirror and was amazed. I did have green eyes. I had always assumed I had brown eyes. It just goes to show you how rarely I ever look at myself, especially back then.
I realize this is a bit of a silly post and not in keeping with the season perhaps, but what the heck.
