My deal is dead
Aug. 21st, 2009 01:42 pmLooks like my wonderful partially federally funded car purchase is dead. With the sudden cut off of the "cash for clunkers" program at Monday, August 24th at 8 PM (not sure which time zone...) I am dead in the water. I won't be able to pull together all the paperwork for the car loan payoff in time so it is sayonara to sucking off the federal teat. The car dealer is pissed because a whole bunch of deals are going to go south the same way mine is. The government didn't even notify the dealers that this was happening. The dealer's wife saw it on the news this morning and called him. From the Fed? Not a word.
However, it is not a tragedy. I was trying to put off closing the deal until after we got back from bringing the kids up to their respective dorms (eek - next Friday!) and returned from vacation. If that's not going to happen, I will get my $500 deposit back and we'll start over. Sigh.
I love Mr. Obama and I believe in him but seriously - you come up with one of the first good ideas in government in a really long time, you should have handled it better than this! It should have been funded better, run more seamlessly and you should have taken advantage of some of that smartass technology you used so effectively during the campaign.
Back to the drawing board...
