Good news: I do not have to go to DC tomorrow for work.  The hosting manager at work asked me to come with him to DC for a training session but considering the weather, the expense and the fact that the actual training was only going to be about 90 minutes, it didn't seem to make a lot of sense for me to go.

I don't want anyone to think I am not a "team player" but I am glad that he suggested I not go.  I would have had to lay out about $400 for the round trip fare and given the snow that we are supposed to get here on the East coast, I don't think it would have been a fun trip.  Neither DC nor Amtrak do snow well.

More good news: the colonoscopy went fine.  Evidently hemorrhoids can cause the kind of bleeding I had without any symptoms and that is what it was.  The doctor did find 2 polyps which he removed and sent off for biopsy, but he didn't seem to think they were anything serious.  I have to go back and have it done again in 3 years.  I can live with that.

Even more good news: I got my first new paycheck on Friday.  David went in on the train to pick it up since we had to pay the rent this weekend.  I was very pleased to see that this is indeed change I can believe in.  There was almost $1,000 more in this check than my previous paycheck.  Feels very nice to have a little breathing room.  There will be a little less once they start deducting for the health insurance in April, but even with that it is a noticeable difference.

So I treated us to hockey and a nice dinner out last night - partly for the heck of it and partly to celebrate Sarah's acceptance to UVM.  My Sabres lost *sob* but we still had a great time.  All 3 of us were in our hockey jerseys - David and I in Sabres colors and Sarah in her Islanders jersey that David got her for her birthday.  There was a lot of 'fishstick" and "slug" being bandied about but a good time was had by all.
