What I did on my spring vacation
May. 24th, 2008 08:10 amDavid and I took off on the 15th for a much-needed vacation. Both of us have been feeling exhausted, burnt out and generally in need of some R&R. We drove up to Rochester where we saw

And this:

at the Lilac Festival.
We also saw David's best friend, JC and JC's son, Charlie for dinner. (David is in the middle.)

We ate lunch at a cool retro diner that I just had to photograph.

Last Saturday we drove up to Vermont for a week at Smugglers' Notch, where I've owned a timeshare for 16 years - best money I ever spent.
The weather was not great - cold and rainy for pretty much the whole week. But we were in Vermont so it couldn't be too bad. We wandered in and out of many craft stores, took some long drives and watched the price of gas rise at an alarming rate. When we arrived here, gas in most of the stations in Stowe was about $3.76. As of yesterday, it was up to $3.98 and I can hardly wait to see what it is when we go down the mountain this morning to fill up before going home.
We also saw many pretty things this week.

Note the beautiful rainbow just above the mountains.
Sadly, now we have to finish packing the car and start the journey home. Every time I come here it is harder to leave. We're going to take the long way home, wander through the state before hitting the highway and make it last as long as possible.
It's been a great vacation. It's amazing that David and I can spend every waking minute of the day together for 10 days and never fight, never get bored with each other and feel a stronger bond than ever. I like that.
