I confess!

I am a Grobanite.  I love Josh Groban - not in a "O my Gawd he's so cute I must scream" kind of way.  That would be completely creepy since I am, I believe, old enough to be his mother.  Of course, lately I feel like I am old enough to be everyone's mother.  But I really love his voice.  Ever since I first heard him sing on an episode of Ally McBeal I have been completely blown away by his voice.  I can't say I love every song he does - some of them are too sappy even for me.  But I have all his CDs and I do listen to them.  When I'm alone.  Or with Sarah - she likes him too.

So this morning I gave in.  I've been dying to see him perform in person for ages and I've resisted getting tickets for next Wednesday's concert but today I succumbed.  I clicked my little mouse, used my Ticketmaster account and now I have 2 "print it yourself" tickets tucked in my purse, just waiting to surprise Sarah.  What - you though I'd take David?  Nah, he'd go just to please me but it really isn't his thing.  Sarah, on the other hand, will squeal with excitement when I tell her.

So next Wednesday we will do a nice Mother/Daughter thing and scream our lungs out for Josh.  And I WILL remember to bring my opera glasses so we can get a decent look at him.  I didn't spring for the really expensive seats but we should be able to see a bit.

What burns my toast about this whole transaction are the fees they tack on to the price of the tickets.  Here's the break down of the bill:

2 tickets @ $55/each             $110.00
Facility charge (WHAT?)              3.00
Convenience charge (??)         20.50
Delivery (it was an email!)           1.75
Order Processing Fee                 3.50
Additional Taxes                           3.00
Grand Total                             $141.75

So for 2 tickets that should have cost me $110, I get another $31.75 added on.  It's quite a racket they have going.

Well, the concert will be fun and by that time I'll be grousing about the high price of the tee shirts.  No, I won't buy one!  I'm not that nuts.

I am rather pleased though - it's nice when you make a wish come true for yourself.

I confess!
